CARE Ambulance is currently seeking a Field Training Officer

Job Summary:
To be a field based coach and preceptor for employees on all aspects of their job particularly focusing on: patient care, core job skills, paperwork completion, Procarent core values, driving safety, personal safety, safety work practices, etc. FTO’s will perform this function during specific times:
FTO 3rd shifts – where a new employee rides as 3rd with the FTO and partner
FTO Shifts – where a new or existing employee works with the FTO as a partner and the FTO observes and coaches them on all their work performed during the shift.
FTO Vehicle Safety Policy Shifts – A shift required by the vehicle safety policy where the employee works with the FTO for a shift as partner and the FTO observes their driving habits, coaches any areas of concern (specifically addressing the item or issue the triggered the vehicle safety shift) and completes the FTO safety policy form.
FTOs must be able to coach and precept in a positive way and focus on developing employees skills in the required areas. The primary goal of the FTO is to evaluate and improve the skills and abilities of Procarent EMTs and paramedics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership/coaching – Must be able to coach and precept employees in the required areas.
Preceptor protocols and documentation – Must be a subject matter expert in many areas be able to utilize a preceptor process and documentation.
Skills Practicum coaching – Must be capable of providing coaching and mentoring to other employees during both skills practicum and while in the field.
Safety Driving Skills – Must poses good safety driving skills and be able to coach employees on proper driving habits and protocols as well as model good driving habits while operating the vehicle.
Procarent core values and how they apply to their job mission statement – Must understand Procarents core values and be able to coach and model the skills at all times.
Communication skills – FTOs must poses excellent communication skills and abilities. They must be comfortable with both positive and negative coaching, remediation, and discussions.
Facilities and local geography hospitals and common destinations – Must be able to identify locations of common facilities and be aware of local geography and best routes based on time of day and other prevailing conditions.
Qualification Requirements:
1 year in current certification level
Employed the 6 previous months with Procarent Company
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Current certification as a EMT or Paramedic.
Demonstrated written and verbal skills
Demonstrated by successfully passing a sample of Preceptor tests
Satisfactory work, clinical, customer service skills and driving record.
Demonstrated by observation period with command staff or FTO.
Valid Driver’s license.
Successfully compete Defensive Driving Course Exceptional knowledge of Yellow Ambulance protocols and SOPs
Written and hands on testing on protocols and SOPs
